The Second Vice President of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, Hon. Hemed Suleiman Abdulla, paid a visit to the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) pavilion during the closing ceremony of the Sixth International Mineral Technology Exhibition held in the Geita region. He was warmly received by BoT Deputy Governor, Dr. Yamungu Kayandabila.

Dr. Kayandabila elaborated BoT efforts in fostering the country's economy through the mineral sector. He explained that BoT has established the Export Credit Guarantee Scheme, a fund aimed at providing credit guarantees to small and medium-scale miners, with the goal of enhancing gold production. 

“This fund is part of the government and BoT's joint initiatives to promote the mineral sector, enabling BoT to accumulate sufficient gold reserves as foreign exchange assets and contribute to Tanzania's economic growth,” said Dr. Kayandabila.  

The Sixth International Mineral Technology Exhibition, which took place from September 20 to September 30, 2023, at the Geita Bomba mbili grounds, served as a unique platform for stakeholders in the mineral sector, both domestically and internationally, to exchange ideas, technology, and contemporary experiences in mineral mining.
