The Bank of Tanzania plays a role of overseeing, monitoring and conducting assessment of the National Payment Systems (NPS) in the country. In collaboration with various stakeholders, the Bank also participates in developing policies, guidelines and enhancement of the NPS legal and regulatory framework. On the other hand, the Bank collaborates with regional regulators such as EAC on cross border payment systems oversight;
Financial inclusion is defined as the availability and equality of opportunities to access financial services. It is evident that the payment systems products and services affect financial inclusion efforts. The Bank of Tanzania makes a lot effort in ensuring that people across the country have access to affordable means of payment.
