The Bank of Tanzania (BoT) has won the First Winner in the Category of Regulatory Authorities at the Nanenane Farmers' Exhibitions held at national level in Mbeya and officially closed by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, on August 8, 2023.
BoT, which participated in Nanenane Exhibitions in Zanzibar and zonal levels, also emerged the First Winner in the Regulatory Authorities Category in the Central Zone (Dodoma), Northern Zone (Arusha), Southern Zone (Lindi), and Lake Zone in Mwanza.
Vice-President, Hon. Dr. Philip Mpango, officially opened the Mbeya international exhibitions at John Mwakangale Grounds on August 1st, 2023, he also visited BoT pavilion to witness how BoT experts provided education to the public.
The BoT pavilion was one of major attractions at the exhibitions and received visitors from all walks of life including dignitaries like Prime Minister, Hon. Kassim Majaliwa, National Assembly Speaker Hon. Dr. Tulia Ackson, former Prime Minister, Mr. Mizengo Pinda and Members of Parliament’s Standing Committees on Budget and Industry, Trade, Agriculture, and Livestock. Deputy Governor, Mr. Julian Banzi Raphael, led the BoT delegation in the exhibitions including hosting the distinguished guests.
During the exhibitions, BoT provided education to citizens on various economic and financial matters, including on economic research and policies, investing in government securities, national payment systems, and financial sector supervision.
Visitors, also learned about the functions of the Deposit Insurance Board, Bank of Tanzania Academy, resolution of complaints from financial service consumers, and how to recognize security features on Tanzanian banknotes.
Also, the Bank received valuable and suggestions from various stakeholders and citizens on how to better improve its services as it continues to enhance its performance in driving economic growth and national development.
Recognition of the Bank at national and zonal levels indicate the seriousness that the Bank put in providing awareness to the public and stakeholders in the financial sector in order to contribute in the development of the nation.
